We meet seasonally at the McDonald Garden Center, Independence Blvd location, the second Sunday of the month from 2-4pm.
focused on bringing together
like-minded beekeepers to share their insights and stories for raising honey bees in a topbar beehive
Topbar beehives offer an environment for honey bees that is less structured than a traditional Langstroth hive.  This allows the bees to make their own natural honeycomb shape and cell size as they desire. And these things will help the honey bee be less stressed and better able to fight the pests and diseases that are being attributed to a decline in their population.  Many topbar hives also have an observation window to allow the beekeeper to enjoy peeking inside the colony and to continually monitor the bees without the need to suit up in protective gear.
